Discover Soldeu: A Skiing Paradise in the Pyrenees

Grandvalira: The Largest Ski Resort in the Pyrenees
With 210 kilometers of ski slopes spread across 139 tracks for all skill levels, the Andorran ski resort Grandvalira is currently the largest ski resort in the Pyrenees and all of southern Europe. Established in 2003, it was the result of the merger of the historic ski resorts of Pas de la Casa-Grau Roig and Soldeu-El Tarter-Canillo.
Skiing for All Levels
Grandvalira offers a wide range of skiing opportunities for all skill levels. It boasts numerous activities and services to ensure a pleasant skiing experience every day. One of the main attractions is the Telecabina del Tarter, which takes skiers to the top of the slopes. From there, they can take the Piolet chairlift to access a variety of trails.
- For beginners and those looking for a leisurely ski experience, there are gentle slopes and areas designed specifically for newcomers.
- Intermediate skiers will find a wide selection of well-groomed runs to explore, including the spectacular La Mácula trail, which offers a challenging and exhilarating descent.
- Advanced skiers can enjoy the extensive off-piste areas and test their skills on the steeper slopes.
Antonio de la Rosa: Adventurer and Skier
While exploring the slopes of Grandvalira, you may come across someone special: Antonio de la Rosa. He is known as one of the greatest solo adventurers of all time. Antonio has accomplished incredible feats, including breaking the record for the Lapland Extreme Challenge, where he skied across northern Finland. He has also completed a solo crossing of the Pacific Ocean on a paddleboard.

Antonio is passionate about skiing and uses ski mountaineering equipment, including skis and boots, even on the resort's groomed slopes. He credits this choice to his familiarity and comfort with the lightweight gear used in ski mountaineering.
Activities and Services
Grandvalira offers a wide range of activities and services to enhance visitors' experiences both on and off the slopes. Some of the highlights include:
- The Funicamp: A cable car that provides access to the El Cubil area, offering a variety of red and blue slopes.
- Snowpark El Tarter: One of the best snow parks in the Pyrenees, featuring a long line of impressive jumps for freestyle enthusiasts.
- Driving circuit on snow: An immense circuit designed for driving cars in extreme conditions.
- Children's facilities: Grandvalira provides multiple areas specifically designed for children, including a protected playground and the Baba Boom circuit with playful elements and decorations.
Bars and Restaurants
When it comes to dining and refreshments, Grandvalira offers a variety of options. Visitors can enjoy a meal or a drink at prestigious establishments such as the Wine & Miri restaurant or relax on the large terrace that offers breathtaking views of the slopes. Additionally, the resort has a range of bars and restaurants that cater to different tastes and budgets.
A Glimpse of the Immense Ski Area
While we have only explored a portion of Grandvalira, it's important to note that there is still more than half of the resort left to discover. The immensity of the ski area is truly remarkable, solidifying its position as the largest ski resort in the Pyrenees.
So whether you're a beginner, intermediate, or advanced skier, Grandvalira has something to offer. With its vast range of slopes, breathtaking views, and numerous activities and services, it's no wonder that Grandvalira attracts skiers from all over the world.
